Now, I hate to jump fresh into your MUD and start saying "I'd like to see it better" but, after a little research, I think you could do something for even the weaker clans, like the unheard of Kurosuki's for example.
The Kurosuki family was founded by Raiga, one of the 7 Swordsmen of the Mist village, he used Lightning Element, and I believe he was introduced in a little filler episode, but the Kurosuki family was known for wielding gloves with retractable blades on them (wolverine-esque blades).
I just want to suggest maybe starting Kurosuki people with whatever form of weaponry that would be under, and providing the Kurosuki Family Gloves.
